This page or section is unfinished.

Krakatau is an amazing modern Java 8 Decompiler, Disassembler and Assembler. It's ran command line but Bytecode Viewer is a graphical program that has support for the Krakatau decompiler.

How to use

The tools page provides a source archive. Extract it, install Rust and Cargo, and run these commands from the extracted directory:

cargo build --release

The resulting krak2 executable is in target/release (krak2.exe on Windows). Add that directory to your PATH or use the executable's full path:

krak2 dis --out output Example.class
krak2 asm --out rebuilt output/Example.j

These commands disassemble and reassemble bytecode. Older guides describe the separate Python decompiler; they are not launch instructions for this Rust executable.

Based on the README for the catalog's source revision.
