This page or section is unfinished.

Java Bytecode Editor (JBE) is an outdated Java 5 Bytecode Editor, Contra continued this project as Continued Java Bytecode Editor (CJBE), however it's still filled with bugs and is only for Java 7.

If you're looking for a stable Bytecode Editor try out Bytecode Viewer with the option Krakatau Editable.

How to use

Extract the JBE archive and use its included launcher with Java installed. Open a copy of a .class file, select a method, and inspect its code and attributes. Save to a separate file after editing. The tools page also lists Continued Java Bytecode Editor (CJBE).

These are basic steps for the archived editor. Consult its bundled README/help for exact launcher names and supported Java versions; the old online documentation is unreliable. See the CJBE source repository for the continuation.
